Back in 2017, I was working as a CPA for one of the largest accounting firms in the world.

I liked some aspects of the job, but hated many others.

Working 90+ hour weeks for not much money, $80K in student loans hanging over my head, and a feeling that I was just a small cog in a huge corporate machine. 

I needed to get out.

I didn't know what I wanted to do, but what I did know is that:

✅ I wanted to control my own destiny.

✅ I wanted my effort to determine how much money I would make in time.

✅ I wanted to be financially independent.

At the time I loved reading investment newsletters, and so I reached out to one and volunteered to write investment recommendations for free.

And so my journey into the world of premium newsletters and content subscription businesses began... 

Fast forward a few years to 2021. I'd branched out on my own and had a premium newsletter business, with a team of 5 people, generating over $10M in revenue that year alone.

Better yet, I achieved my purpose...

In short, I’m one of the lucky few Americans who doesn’t have to choose between financial success and seeing my family. It’s all thanks to having a successful newsletter business.

Now, I'm not going to tell you this was easy, or that there's a secret 5-step process for doing this in the next 12 months...

There isn't.

Getting to that point took a huge amount of hard work, long hours, and sacrifice. 

And it's probably no surprise that I made a ton of mistakes along the way, including:

❌ Spending over $600K on a campaign that I was sure would be a winner, that generated less than 30% ROI

❌ Chronically undercharging for my first premium products and leaving tends of thousands in revenue on the table 

But what I am here to share with you are some lessons I learned along the way.

Lessons like how to focus and prioritise on the one thing that will have the biggest impact on the success (or failure) of your business - that's nothing to do with winning new subscribers.

Or lessons on the fastest way to increase your profits and take more money out of your business (hint - it involves your existing subscribers).
